808
Tube Screamer reimagined with three-way gain switch. LED, silicon, or open boost clipping modes.
JHS built the 808 after countless requests to extract the Tube Screamer circuit from the Double Barrel as a standalone pedal. The circuit honors the classic TS-808 topology while adding a three-position gain toggle that transforms its character completely. This wasn't just another screamer clone—it was JHS's refined take before they moved away from traditional Tube Screamer designs.
The gain switch delivers three distinct voices: silicon clipping (down) for classic 808 crunch, LED clipping (up) for brighter, more open distortion, and open boost (middle) for transparent volume increase without clipping diodes. Drive, Tone, and Volume knobs provide familiar screamer control. The circuit proved so popular that JHS incorporated it into larger projects.
Standard 9V operation with true bypass. The 808 did really well before discontinuation—JHS decided against keeping a traditional Tube Screamer in the permanent lineup, but the circuit lives on in multi-pedal designs.
