Calhoun V2
Mike Campbell signature dual circuit. Twin Twelve overdrive meets Firefly fuzz with order toggle.
JHS collaborated with Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to create the Calhoun V2, a two-in-one overdrive and fuzz pedal split between independent control sets. The left side delivers Twin Twelve amp-like breakup, the right side adds Firefly fuzz—a derivative of the MKIII Tone Bender that fattens the overdrive when stacked together.
The overdrive side provides Volume, Drive, Treble, and Bass controls for mild to thick breakup. The fuzz circuit uses silicon diodes with Volume, Fuzz, Bias, and EQ parameters. The Bias control adjusts voltage to the circuit, creating powerful tones with headroom or weaker, saturated character. An order toggle switches which circuit hits your signal first, enabling different gain combinations.
Both effects run independently or stack for complex textures. The V2 improves on the original with refined voicing and enhanced flexibility. Standard 9V center negative power, less than 100mA draw. Campbell's go-to tones for studio and stage applications.
