NOTADÜMBLË
DIY Dumble-inspired overdrive kit with clean and lead channels, no soldering required.
JHS released the NOTADÜMBLË in 2025 as a DIY kit that delivers Dumble amp character at $119 instead of half a million dollars. Josh Scott borrowed John Mayer's rare A Box Later pedal—one of the few non-amp circuits Alexander Dumble ever built—and reverse-engineered both that clean preamp and Dumble's legendary lead voice.
The clean channel extracts the A Box Later's oddball preamp character with Input and Output controls. The red overdrive channel captures the sustaining violin lead tone associated with Santana, Bonamassa, and Eric Johnson, shaped by Volume, EQ, and Drive knobs. An internal Presence trimpot adjusts upper-mid and treble response in the gain stage. The solderless assembly sold out within 24 hours of release.
