Solo Boost
Clean boost with dual circuits. FET and op-amp modes for transparent volume lift.
JHS released the Solo Boost as a limited run of 817 pedals, offering two classic clean boost topologies in one compact enclosure. The circuit toggles between FET and op-amp boost stages, each with distinct character. The FET boost takes inspiration from the Keeley Katana, providing tube-like warmth and compression as you turn it up. The op-amp mode delivers the linear, transparent boost of circuits like the MXR Micro Amp.
The large red volume knob controls boost level from subtle lift to significant push. As you increase the boost, the circuit amplifies your guitar signal without adding distortion or coloring your tone. Your amp and guitar's natural character stays intact while gaining presence and cut.
A small side switch toggles between boost modes. The Solo Boost works equally well pushing your amp's front end into natural breakup or adding volume for solos and leads that need to cut through the band mix.
