Julian

The Julian is a discrete Class-A JFET preamp and booster with internal voltage doubled to 18V for extra headroom. The parametric midboost and treble controls provide flexible EQ shaping, while a gain pot offers +/-15dB of boost.

An impedance switch toggles between 1 MOhm (standard) and 10 kOhm, the latter recreating the input characteristics of vintage treble boosters like the Dallas Rangemaster and Hornby Skewes. A TB/TS mode switch selects True Bypass for short cable runs or True Sound buffered mode for long cables and complex pedalboards. Gold-plated switch contacts throughout. Discontinued but well-regarded as a studio-quality tone shaper.
