The Altar is a dual-gain fuzz/distortion with integrated boost, built around a Black Russian Big Muff circuit architecture.
Main channel controls: Gain (input), Level (output), Depth (input saturation/compression/fuzziness), Comp (morphs clipping from LED through germanium diodes — spanning fuzz, overdrive, and distortion textures). Bass, Mids, and Treble active EQ with +/-18dB per band. Grind control blends an HM-2-style EQ curve into the boost section.
The independent boost circuit delivers up to +36dB via internal 36V charge pump from 9V supply. Internal Doom slide switch increases saturation and bass. SmartRelay switching. 9V DC, 13mA. Handmade in Berlin.
