Slow Engine

The Slow Engine creates automatic volume swells, fading in each note or chord like a violinist's bow or a pedal steel's volume pedal. The effect transforms guitar into ambient pad sounds.

Two knobs control Sense (trigger sensitivity) and Speed (fade-in time). The circuit detects each new attack and automatically applies the swell, freeing both hands for playing rather than manipulating a volume pedal.

The effect works particularly well with reverb and delay, creating shimmering, ambient textures from normal guitar playing. Clean or dirty signals both work, though clean tones showcase the effect best.
