Phase 45
Two-stage phaser for subtle, vibe-like modulation. Simpler than the 90, used by Steve Jones on "Anarchy.".
The Phase 45 appeared a couple years after the Phase 90, offering two-stage phasing for subtler, more vibe-like modulation. Where the Phase 90's four stages create pronounced sweep, the Phase 45 produces gentler, more musical movement that blends seamlessly into a full band mix.
Single-knob operation controls speed only. The two-stage design means no feedback is possible, contributing to its subtler character. Hand-matched FETs in the reissue versions maintain consistent quality.
Steve Jones used the Phase 45 on "Anarchy in the UK," noting it was the only effect pedal he used on that track. Players seeking SRV, Jimi Hendrix, or Robin Trower-style sounds often prefer its subtlety over the more intense Phase 90.
Current draw is under 1mA, providing exceptional battery life. The vintage Script Logo versions are collectible, though modern reissues capture the essential character.
