The Fates
MN3207 BBD chorus inspired by 1980s Japanese designs. Vibrato mode avoids extreme warble.
Developed in collaboration with Brian from Madbean Pedals, The Fates Chorus channels classic Japanese chorus pedals from the 1980s through an MN3207 BBD chip. A JFET buffered input stage ensures clean signal integrity while the buffered bypass switching maintains tone consistency whether engaged or not.
Controls include Rate (modulation speed with LED indicator), Depth (modulation intensity), and a Chorus/Vibrato mode switch. The vibrato mode was carefully engineered to avoid extreme warble—usable pitch modulation rather than seasickness-inducing wobble. The circuit features a sweet output bump and EQ voicing that works with both clean and driven sounds.
Dimensions: 4.70" × 3.70" × 1.39" with mono in/out and high-quality panel-mount jacks for road durability. Draws 16mA from 9V DC only. The voicing captures that lush, swirling character of 80s rack choruses in a compact pedal format—thick without being muddy, present without being shrill.
