Tempest
BBD analog stereo chorus/vibrato with four waveforms and expression/ramp control ($315)
Tempest is a full analog stereo chorus and vibrato built around a BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) chip, combining analog signal path with digital control for precise modulation. The pedal offers four modulation waveforms—sine, square, triangle, and random—each with adjustable Depth, Rate, and Lag parameters.
The Blend control sweeps from 100% dry (CCW) through lush chorus at 50% to 100% wet vibrato (CW), while the Tone control shapes the modulated signal's frequency content. An expression pedal input or built-in ramp generator can modulate Rate, Depth, or Blend for dynamic movement. Tap tempo with subdivisions enables rhythm-locked modulation.
Two footswitches provide latching or momentary bypass, tap tempo, and ramp triggering via relay switching. Top-mounted jacks conserve pedalboard space. Priced at $315, Tempest is Neural Devices' premium offering, evolved from the retired TrencH Chorus/Pitch Modulator design. The BBD architecture and advanced control features position it among high-end analog chorus/vibrato pedals.
