Robotic Celebrity Head
Transistor overdrive with two drive modes. Schottky diode clipping in V3, cleans up like a pushed amp.
Named after a teenage misadventure involving an animatronic Elvis bust, the Robotic Celebrity Head is a transistor-based overdrive with two gain modes in October Audio’s mini enclosure.
The toggle switch selects between low gain (transistor clipping only) and high gain (asymmetrical Schottky diode clipping added). Volume stays balanced between modes thanks to the switching design. The single knob controls output level while guitar volume and pickup selection shape the drive character. V3 replaced the original germanium diodes with Schottky types for more consistent performance.
Responsive enough to clean up fully with your guitar volume rolled back. The low-gain side delivers pushed-amp breakup while the high-gain side crosses into fuzzy drive territory. 3.63 x 1.50 inches, 255g, 9V center-negative at under 10mA, no battery.
