BLD
TC Booster+ Line Driver & Distortion recreation with +/-30dB preamp and noise suppressor.
The PastFX BLD is a recreation of the discontinued TC Electronic Booster+ Line Driver & Distortion, famously used by David Gilmour during the late 1980s. Far from a blues driver, it is a multi-function preamp, boost, and distortion unit.
The BLD provides +/-30dB of boosting/preamp capability for bringing low-level signals to studio level or overdriving amplifier inputs. Active Bass and Treble controls shape the EQ. A Distortion/Boost switch engages the gain circuit, while the Volume control sets output level. A variable Noise Suppressor Threshold provides smooth fading-action noise reduction (distinct from a hard noise gate), with an internally adjustable gate trim. An internal slide switch provides additional gain when in distortion mode.
True bypass operation, high input impedance, and a compact 112 x 60 x 31mm enclosure drawing 5-10mA from 9-24VDC center-negative. Uses an Exar 4741 op-amp. Dimmable LED. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
