Chorus Ensemble Preamp Crunch

The PastFX Preamp Crunch Plus isolates the unique preamp section from the Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble circuit and houses it as a standalone overdrive pedal. This preamp generates warm, chimey crunch, saturation, and natural compression using the same internal bipolar voltages (+/-14V and 13V) as the full Chorus Ensemble.

Two external controls shape the sound: Level adjusts crunch amount, gain, and volume, while Master compensates for gain settings or achieves unity gain. A High/Low input sensitivity switch accommodates different pickup types. A toggle switch selects between True Bypass and Buffered operation (the original CE-1 was always buffered). An internal Pot Mod switch selects between two potentiometer values for the Level control.

The circuit includes a red LED peak level indicator and blue effect-on LED. Housed in a compact 112 x 60 x 31mm enclosure drawing 55mA at 9VDC center-negative (or 9V battery). Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
