Classic Phase PX99
Ibanez PH99 recreation with 4/6-stage OTA phasing, variable bias, and Q-factor focus control.
The PastFX Classic Phase PX99 is a compact recreation and expansion of the discontinued Ibanez PH99 Classic Phase, not an MXR Phase 99 clone. It is an OTA (operational transconductance amplifier) phaser with optical stage selection.
Four main knobs control the sound: Speed sets the LFO rate, Depth adjusts modulation intensity, Feedback sweeps from negative (CCW) through minimal (center) to positive (CW) for varied tonal character, and Level adjusts output volume. A variable mini Bias control adjusts the phase frequency sweep for different textures. Three switches provide further shaping: a 4/6-stage selector (green LED for 4, red for 6), a Square/Sine waveform selector, and a Q pushbutton that increases the swept filter's Q-factor, shifting peaks and notches closer together for a deeper, more focused flange-like phaser tone. Internal controls include a bass cut slide switch and oscillation reduction trim.
True bypass, visual LFO LED indicator matching stage color. 112 x 60 x 31mm enclosure drawing 40mA at 9VDC center-negative. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
