Rotary Phaser
Maxon PH-350 recreation with photo-coupler phasing, 4/6/8/10 stages, and stereo outputs.
The PastFX Rotary Phaser is a faithful recreation and expansion of the revered Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser, using photo-coupler-based phasing rather than typical OTA or JFET circuits. The PastFX version adds an 8-stage mode not found on the original.
Five main controls shape the sound: Speed sets the modulation rate, Depth adjusts intensity, Feedback sweeps from negative (CCW) through minimum (center) to positive (CW), and a Mode selector provides four phasing stage options (4, 6, 8, or 10) for varying depth and complexity. A Waveform selector toggles between Triangle and Square LFO shapes. A Bias control adjusts the phase frequency sweep. Internal controls include mono/stereo selector, oscillation reduction trimpot, and LED brightness trimpot.
Stereo outputs with internal selector: Output A always carries dry signal; in stereo mode, Output B carries wet-only for true wet/dry separation. Red LED LFO rate indicator. True bypass, compact 1590B enclosure drawing approximately 45mA at 9VDC center-negative. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
