TD-Y
Buffalo FX TDX / BK Butler Tube Driver recreation with 3-way clipping, removable mids control.
The PastFX TD-Y is a recreation of the discontinued Buffalo FX TDX, itself inspired by the BK Butler Tube Driver—the valve-powered overdrive used extensively by David Gilmour. The current V2 version adds a Mids control and germanium clipping option.
Five controls provide versatile tone sculpting: Gain sets drive amount, Level controls output volume, Bass adjusts low-frequency content, Mids shapes midrange (removable via push button to revert to the original V1 four-knob circuit), and Treble controls high frequencies. A 3-way toggle switch selects between V1 symmetrical clipping, a second clipping option, or no diode clipping mode. A push button removes the Mids control from the circuit when depressed.
The TD-Y functions as a versatile low-to-medium gain overdrive, boost, and equalizer capable of rich, complex tone-sculpting characteristics. True bypass, dimmable LED. 112 x 60 x 31mm enclosure drawing only 5.5mA at 9VDC center-negative. Input impedance: 1 Megohm. Neutrik jacks with audiophile-grade components. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
