Airavata
RAT-inspired distortion with three clipping modes offering versatile tones from clean grit to fuzzy distortion with comprehensive tonal shaping.
The Airavata is RAT-inspired distortion pedal handcrafted by Nashville-based Siren Pedals, designed to serve as versatile go-to distortion across multiple musical styles. Pedal's centerpiece is its three distinct clipping modes (labeled I, II, and III), each offering different voicing characteristics and represented by three-headed elephant artwork on enclosure. This allows players to select from wide range of distortion personalities, from cleaner, more transparent drive to aggressive, saturated tones.
Control layout features four knobs: Volume for output level, Distortion for gain/saturation adjustment, Filter for high-frequency reduction and tone shaping, and Shape for adjusting character between smoother and more abrasive qualities. Filter and Shape controls work together to provide extensive tonal sculpting capabilities, allowing pedal to dial in everything from warm, smooth distortion to bright, cutting tones.
Sonically, Airavata covers impressive range described as spanning from cleanish-grit all the way to fuzzy-distortion. It can achieve classic RAT territory with its midrange punch and clarity, while also venturing into fuzz-like saturation when pushed hard. Pedal maintains clarity even at high gain settings, making it suitable for both rhythm work and soaring lead tones.
Built with top-mounted jacks for pedalboard-friendly integration and true bypass switching to preserve tone when disengaged, Airavata can be powered by either 9V battery or standard 9V power supply. Pedal is housed in Siren Pedals' standard enclosure measuring 4.8 x 2.59 x 1.55 inches.
