1966 Modernized
Modernized Fuzz Face with silicon transistors. Classic 60s fuzz with improved noise floor and stability.
The 1966 Modernized is a Fuzz Face variant targeting Hendrix-era first-generation fuzz tones from the mid-1960s. Uses low-gain silicon transistors selected to render germanium-type fuzz tones while maintaining temperature stability.
Five controls: Volume (unity at noon, substantial boost available), Bias (buzzy/lo-fi to clear/present, noon is classic), Voice (bright/articulate to smooth/syrupy), Fuzz (best cranked or slightly backed off), and Hot (input resistance adjustment for humbucker compatibility and pedal interaction). At full guitar volume it delivers sludgy saturated fuzz; roll the volume back for overdrive character.
The "Modernized" name reflects silicon stability, noise reduction, adjustable tone, and adjustable input resistance — all improvements over original 1960s designs. Same control layout as the BC109 Fuzz. Handmade in Milwaukee. True bypass with LED.
