SVDS Boost
Mini boost pedal delivering up to 30dB of clean boost with vintage-voiced Goalpost EQ, originally discovered in 1975 Schaffer-Vega wireless system's headphone output.
The SoloDallas SVDS Boost is compact boost pedal with remarkable heritage - it recreates legendary clean boost circuit originally introduced in 1975 as part of Schaffer-Vega Diversity System wireless units. Guitarists like Angus Young, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Jerry Garcia discovered they could achieve up to 30dB of signal boost by connecting instrument cable from SVDS wireless unit's 1/4" headphone monitoring jack to their amplifier, creating signature tone enhancement that appeared on countless classic recordings.
Pedal's sonic character comes from Ken Schaffer's unique "Goalpost" EQ design, which enhances extreme ends of frequency spectrum - adding definition to highs and weight to lows - while maintaining integrity and character of mid-range frequencies. This full-frequency boost with vintage coloration is particularly effective when placed after other gain pedals, punching guitar tones with enhanced presence, thickened gain, and improved sustain without muddying core sound.
Controls are elegantly simple: single external knob controls gain boost, while internal gain pot (factory-set halfway) can be adjusted to either maximize pickup response or increase harmonic clipping for edge-of-breakup tones. Circuit is completely analog, featuring high-quality PCB construction with gold contacts, commercial-grade potentiometers, Neutrik input/output jacks, heavy-duty footswitch, and bright blue LED indication. Originally selected for inclusion in Guitar Player Magazine's 2015 Hall of Fame, SVDS Boost brings secret weapon of 1970s rock legends into modern, reliable mini pedal format.
