Ixion

The Ixion is an extremely smooth, clean, low-noise optical compressor with an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. An optical photocell provides gain reduction with parallel-compression mix control and discrete FET stages for warmth.

Maximum compression is 6:1 with harmonically rich make-up gain available for vintage grit. The Contour control implements an A-weighted equal loudness filter derived from IEC and ISO standards, keeping bottom-end thick. Treble-focused tone control is neutral centered.

Sidechain input accepts TS, TRS for stereo, or expression/volume pedals. 500K ohm input impedance. True-bypass relay switching with soft-touch footswitch. Current draw 32mA engaged. Hand-wired in Portland, Oregon.
