The Static Effectors Purple Glaze is a boutique all-germanium fuzz pedal built in Detroit by Kyle Burris, taking the legendary Fuzz Face circuit topology as its foundation while incorporating thoughtful modifications and premium component selection. Hand-wired on turret board construction ensures signal path integrity and durability, eschewing PCB layouts in favor of point-to-point wiring that allows for precise component placement and easier servicing. This old-school build methodology contributes to the pedal's organic, three-dimensional character.
At the heart of the Purple Glaze are carefully selected NOS (New Old Stock) Russian germanium transistors - specifically Russian 2n404 equivalents and Romanian OC81D equivalents - chosen for their musical response characteristics and relative temperature stability compared to other vintage germanium devices. These transistors provide the warm, blooming fuzz character that made the original Fuzz Face legendary, with smooth saturation that responds dynamically to guitar volume knob adjustments. Rolling back your guitar volume cleans up the fuzz into sparkly overdrive, while full-volume playing unleashes thick, sustaining fuzz tones.
