Slampegg Bee Pre
Bass-focused tube preamp based on legendary Ampeg B-15N, featuring Baxandall tonestack plus Ultra-Lo and Ultra-Hi switches.
The Slampegg Bee Pre pays homage to the legendary Ampeg B-15N bass amplifier, known for warm, rich low-end and gritty character that has defined countless classic bass recordings. Uses 12AX7 tube (as in modern B-15 reissues) rather than bulky 6SL7 tube from vintage units. Allows slightly more drive potential than 6SL7 counterparts while preserving gritty warmth and luscious low-end bassists expect from B-15 circuit.
Control set includes standard Baxandall/James two-band tonestack familiar to Ampeg users, with two additional switches that significantly expand tonal palette. Ultra-Lo switch acts as high-cut filter, creating strong rolloff of high-frequency content to emphasize fat lows and low-mids that make B-15 sound so thick. Ultra-Hi switch functions as high-frequency boost, more subtle and most apparent when using pickups with strong high-frequency output or when treble control is already set high.
Requires 9-12VDC supply capable of at least 400mA. While primarily designed as bass preamp, can be used with guitar for warm, vintage Ampeg character. Favorite among bassists looking for authentic B-15 tone in portable, pedalboard-friendly format.
