The Detective

The Detective combines two popular circuits—Elementary and Dr. Wattson—into single enclosure. Both channels draw inspiration from legendary Hiwatt DR103 amplifier but with different gain structures and tonal characteristics. Clean channel (blue) is tighter and punchier with slightly less gain, though still capable of nice overdrive when pushed. Dirt channel (red) is more aggressive with significantly more gain and commanding thickness for both lead and rhythm.

Dual-channel architecture makes efficient use of tube complement, with both channels sharing first gain stage while utilizing different subsequent stages. Clean channel uses two of available four gain stages (from two 12AX7 tubes), while red channel shares first stage with blue and adds two additional stages for total of three. All stages configured as gain stages rather than buffers, maximizing harmonic richness and drive potential.
