The King of Gear EQ-201 is a faithful analog recreation of the transistor preamp found within the legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo tape delay unit. The signal path is entirely analog, capturing the warm, vintage character of the original preamp circuit from the green Space Echo.

The pedal includes a bonus Baxandall EQ section lifted from the RE-201, providing flexible tone shaping. It operates on either 9V or 18V power for increased headroom, features a switchable input buffer, and soft-touch bypass switching. The EQ-201 can function as a gentle tone shaper, dirty treble boost, or full-on sputtering distortion depending on settings.

This preamp has become popular for recreating Radiohead-style tones, offering the RE-201's distinctive sonic character without the maintenance hassles of vintage tape echo units.
