Exit Index Redux
Violent enveloped tremolo using overvolted obsolete op-amp with J201 JFETs and bitcrushed distortion.
The Exit Index Redux is an improved version of a rare 2017 limited-edition pedal Travis Johnson made at Death By Audio. This Brooklyn-built analog tremolo uses an obsolete op-amp that's force-fed twice its normal voltage, creating unstable, aggressive modulation that can eat your signal or produce mysterious dreamy ripples depending on settings.
Handpicked J201 JFET transistors make the Redux version nastier, cleaner, and louder than the original, with rich bass response and expression control for real-time manipulation. The pedal offers violent enveloped tremolo, distortion ranging from warm overdrive to something approaching bitcrushed digital destruction, and a clean boost mode. In certain settings, it will self-oscillate into noisy rhythmic tremolo patterns, turning the pedal into a rhythmic noise generator.
True bypass keeps your signal clean when off, and the expression input opens up performance possibilities. The Exit Index Redux sits in that Death By Audio lineage of pedals that use overvolting and obsolete components to create sounds that are equal parts musical and chaotic.
