The Tone Secret chains two circuits in series: a classic Tube Screamer-style overdrive into a solid-state Blackface 12AX7 preamp simulation.
Five controls: Pre-Vol (sets overdrive-to-preamp gain staging), Grit (Screamer drive amount, using 50% of traditional gain for a more usable range), Master (overall output), Treble, and Mid (two-band EQ replacing the typical single tone knob for surgical control). The dual-circuit architecture means the Screamer section hits the preamp section like a guitar hitting an amp's front end.
True bypass, 100% analog. Runs on 8.0-9.6V DC (9.8V max), drawing under 60mA. Also accepts a 9V battery. 4.6 x 3.2 x 1.8 inch enclosure.
