Stella
RAT-type distortion with bipolar transistor and LED clipping. Four-knob EQ replaces standard Filter control.
The Virtues Stella is a general-purpose distortion pedal with a greatly developed RAT-type circuit. It was Virtues' first distortion model released in two years, featuring a hybrid clipping design that combines original bipolar transistor clipping with carefully selected LED clipping.
The four-knob layout—Volume, Gain, Treble, and Bass—replaces the standard RAT's single Filter control with separate bass and treble adjustments. This provides more precise EQ shaping than traditional RAT pedals. The circuit delivers good compression and sustain across a wide gain range, from low to high gain settings.
The basic tone is described as royal and universal—neither modern nor classical. Made in Yokohama, the Stella represents Virtues' take on the RAT formula, cleaning up and organizing the classic distortion sound while maintaining its aggressive character.
