Blackbird
Brownface '63/Blackface '65 amp preamp/overdrive—Era switch, Gain mode, 9-18V operation for headroom.
The Blackbird is an all-analog preamp/overdrive voiced after iconic Fender Brownface and Blackface amplifiers, specifically the Brown '63 and Black '65 circuits. The Era switch toggles between these two distinct voicings: Blackface '65 offers glassy tonal character, while Brownface '63 delivers fatter, spongier breakup. An additional Gain selector switch distinguishes between added compression or gain, providing further tonal flexibility.
Features Volume, Drive, and Tone controls plus powerful post-drive EQ for precise tone shaping. High input impedance preserves guitar signal integrity. Can function as a true preamp, giving other dirt boxes a glassy Blackface or spongy Brownface character when placed further down the effects chain. Supports 9V or 18V DC operation (center-negative) for maximum headroom—9V draws 10mA. Silent switching prevents pops. Top-mounted jacks save pedalboard space. Retail price $216. Designed and built in Greece with high-quality components and careful assembly.
