385
Bell & Howell Filmosound projector-inspired overdrive running internally at 18V for amp-like dynamics.
The 385 draws its inspiration from an unlikely source: the tube amplifier inside a 1950s Bell & Howell Filmosound 385 film projector. For decades, guitarists have repurposed these projector amps for their incredibly dynamic, touch-sensitive overdrive tones. Walrus Audio captured that essence in pedal form.
Running internally at 18V via charge pump, the 385 responds to picking dynamics like a real tube amp. Light touch stays clean; dig in and it breaks up beautifully. This sensitivity to playing dynamics is what sets it apart from more compressed overdrive circuits.
Active bass and treble controls allow precise EQ shaping rather than simple tone roll-off. Volume and gain knobs complete the control set. From clean boost to crunchy rhythm to singing leads, the 385 covers vast overdrive territory while maintaining that elusive amp-like feel guitarists constantly chase.
