385 MKII
Bell & Howell Filmosound projector-inspired overdrive with internal 18V and A/B preset switching.
The 385 MKII draws its inspiration from an unlikely source: the tube amplifier inside a 1950s Bell & Howell Filmosound 385 film projector. For decades, guitarists have repurposed these projector amps for their incredibly dynamic, touch-sensitive overdrive tones. Walrus Audio captured that essence in pedal form.
Running internally at 18V via charge pump, the 385 responds to picking dynamics like a real tube amp. Light touch stays clean; dig in and it breaks up beautifully. The MKII adds an A/B switch for toggling between two independent sets of volume and gain controls—essentially two presets in one pedal.
The 385+ switch slams additional gain into the front of the circuit for thick, saturated drive with extended sustain. Active bass and treble controls allow precise EQ shaping. From clean boost to crunchy rhythm to singing leads, the 385 MKII covers vast overdrive territory while maintaining that elusive amp-like feel.
