Fable
Granular soundscape generator with five programs for glitchy delays, time-stretching, and pitch effects.
The Fable uses granular synthesis to create ambient textures ranging from smooth flowing delays to chaotic glitchy swarms. Granular processing chops audio into tiny "grains" that can be played back in various ways—reversed, pitch-shifted, time-stretched, or scattered.
Five programs explore different granular territories: reverse delay into reverse granular, forward delay into octave-up granular, analog-style delay into octave-down granular, multi-tap granular into multi-tap granular (Grain-Verb), and forward delay into randomized pitch granular.
Two DSP chips run in series with a dual feedback path design. The X knob controls grain size, affecting everything from smooth ambience to stuttering glitch effects. Time, tone, and modulation controls shape each program. Momentary functions adjust modulation speed and time-warping effects.
