CH-100 Chorus
Late-1980s SDS series stereo chorus with analog circuit—9V center-negative or battery, depth/speed/level controls.
The CH-100 Stereo Chorus formed part of Yamaha's SDS (Sound Devise Series) pedal lineup from the late 1980s, representing the company's commitment to high-fidelity analog effects processing during the era when digital effects were beginning to dominate the market. The pedal's analog circuit maintains the warm, natural modulation character that bucket-brigade delay chips provide, avoiding the cold digital artifacts of early digital chorus units.
Depth controls modulation intensity, Speed adjusts LFO rate, Level sets output volume. Two input jacks and two output jacks enable true stereo operation when connecting stereo signal sources or feeding dual amplifiers. The stereo field creates a wide, expansive chorus effect impossible to achieve with mono configurations. Made in Japan during Yamaha's golden era of guitar effects manufacturing.
Powered by 9V DC center-negative power supply or standard 9V battery (typically not included with used units). The CH-100 targeted guitarists and bassists seeking analog chorus warmth in stereo format, suitable for 1980s studio production, jazz, and fusion where stereo effects processing enhanced spatial imaging and added dimension to clean tones without overwhelming the mix.
