Zinky Electronics, a boutique USA builder run by amplifier designer Bruce Zinky, created the Master Blaster as a studio-grade clean boost pedal. The all-discrete FET circuit was designed to add transparent volume without coloring your tone, though the versatile tone control allows adding treble shimmer or warming up overly bright signals. The pedal gained notoriety through Keith Richards' use.
The Master Blaster provides up to 9dB of clean boost via a single volume control. When centered, the volume knob produces unity gain; rotating below halfway reduces gain, while above halfway increases it. The tone control ranges from warm to bright, maintaining clarity across the sweep. The all-FET topology ensures extremely quiet operation suitable for studio recording. True bypass switching keeps your signal pristine when disengaged.
The brushed stainless steel enclosure houses the circuitry with a distinctive blue LED indicator. The pedal works equally well with guitar or bass, making it a versatile tool for adding clean volume to push an amp into saturation or simply matching levels between guitars.
