Solaris
DIY PCB for building a Fuzz Face clone - the 1966 germanium fuzz made famous by Jimi Hendrix.
Aion FX from Des Moines, IA has helped guitarists build studio-quality effects since 2011. Their Fuzz Face PCB is a hot-rodded adaptation with additional controls for modern usability.
The Solaris recreates the Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face (1966), the foundational germanium fuzz circuit made legendary by Jimi Hendrix. The Aion version expands the classic two-transistor circuit with input attenuation, body control for bass filtering, and contour control for midrange adjustment.
The Fuzz Face's deceptively simple two-transistor topology created one of the most touch-sensitive, dynamic fuzz tones ever achieved. Temperature-sensitive germanium transistors make these pedals notoriously finicky, but that same sensitivity delivers unmatched cleanup with guitar volume adjustments. The Aion adaptation maintains the classic core while adding practical controls for modern pedalboard use.
