The Goblin
Two-transistor silicon fuzz based on the rare EFE Black Acid circuit. BC109C, punchy, full-bodied.
The Goblin Tone Distorter is based on the rare EFE (Emanating Fist Electronics) Black Acid circuit from around 2012, a two-transistor fuzz design that Humanoid has revived and refined. Hand-built with BC108C or BC109C NPN high-gain silicon transistors from New Jersey or Central Semiconductor.
Three knobs handle the controls. Volume sets output level. Drive augments or reduces the natural density and bass response of the circuit, with full clockwise delivering maximum low-end and gain. Fuzz controls the voltage feedback fuzz circuit for the core saturation character. The two controls interact to shape dynamics and texture.
True bypass, 9V DC standard adapter. The two-transistor topology delivers a punchy, full-bodied fuzz with better note clarity than typical Meathead-style designs. Compact enclosure at $99 makes it one of the more accessible handmade fuzz options available.
