Solstice
DIY PCB for building a Marshall Shredmaster clone - the 1991 high-gain variant used by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood.
Aion FX from Des Moines, IA has helped guitarists build studio-quality effects since 2011. They preserve discontinued circuits that became cult favorites after discontinuation.
The Solstice recreates the Marshall Shredmaster (1991), a higher-gain variant of the Guv'nor. The first half of both circuits are nearly identical, but the Shredmaster adds an additional gain recovery stage and different tone stack design for more aggressive distortion.
Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) made the Shredmaster essential to 90s alt-rock tone. Marshall discontinued it in the mid-90s but later resurrected the circuit as the JH-1 Jackhammer (1998). The original Shredmaster delivers tighter, more aggressive distortion than the Guv'nor while maintaining amp-like responsiveness.
