MDP compressor analyzing input dynamics in real time for transparent, intelligent compression.
The CP-1X uses Boss's Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) to create a compressor that adapts to what you're playing in real time. Unlike traditional compressors with fixed attack and release characteristics, the CP-1X analyzes the input and adjusts compression parameters dynamically.
MDP tracks whether you're playing single notes, chords, or complex passages and adjusts the compression accordingly. Strummed chords get a different compression character than picked single notes. The result is compression that sounds natural and musical without the pumping and artifacts that fixed-parameter compressors produce.
Level, Attack, Ratio, and Comp controls. At 90mA, the digital processing draws significantly more than the analog CS-3. The lack of a dedicated tone control reflects Boss's intent: the CP-1X is designed to compress without coloring.
The CP-1X is for players who want dynamic control without the audible squash of traditional compressors. It's the opposite philosophy from the CS-2: invisible compression that smooths dynamics without announcing its presence.
