DD-5 Digital Delay
Digital delay with 2000ms max time, reverse mode, and modulation. Extended features over the DD-3.
The DD-5 pushed Boss's digital delay technology forward when it launched in 1995, extending the maximum delay time to 2000ms and adding features that the simpler DD-3 lacked. Reverse delay, modulation delay, and a longer loop time made it Boss's most versatile compact delay at the time.
Five delay modes cover standard digital, modulated, reverse, tap input (for external tap tempo), and a 2-second Hold mode for looping. The modulation mode adds a subtle chorus-like movement to the repeats, a feature that was still uncommon in compact delays.
E.Level, F.Back, D.Time, and Mode. External tap tempo via a separate footswitch (like the FS-5U) was a key selling point. At the time, tap tempo on a compact delay was cutting edge.
The DD-5 sat between the utilitarian DD-3 and the more expensive rack-style delays, offering serious features at a mid-range price. Produced from 1995 to 2002.
