MO-2 Multi Overtone
Multi-overtone generator adding harmonic content above your dry signal. Shimmer and richness.
The MO-2 Multi Overtone adds harmonic content to your guitar signal, generating overtones one or two octaves above and/or below the notes you play. It's part of Boss's 'Make Noise' series that explored unconventional effects.
Three modes: Octave up, Octave down, and Detune. The Detune mode adds a slightly detuned copy for a natural doubling effect. The octave modes generate synthesized harmonics that track your playing in real time. A Tone knob shapes the overtone character, and a Balance control mixes the effect with your dry signal.
Tone, Balance, Mode, and Detune controls. At 40mA, the pitch detection and synthesis require moderate processing power. The tracking works best on single notes and simple chords; complex chords can produce glitchy artifacts.
The MO-2 fills the gap between a simple octave pedal (like the OC-5) and a full guitar synthesizer (like the SY-1). It's more than pitch shifting but less than synthesis, adding harmonically related content that can thicken a guitar tone or push it into new territory.
