OD-2 Turbo Overdrive
Turbo Overdrive with two modes: Normal and Turbo for extended gain and compression range.
The OD-2 Turbo Overdrive debuted in 1985 with a switchable Turbo boost mode, an idea Boss would revisit with the DS-2. Normal mode provides smooth, warm overdrive. Turbo mode kicks the gain and volume up for a more aggressive, cutting lead tone.
The circuit delivers classic 80s overdrive character: warm, slightly compressed, with a gentle mid-range emphasis. Turbo mode doesn't change the voicing as dramatically as the DS-2's Turbo II; it's more of a hot-rodded version of the same basic sound.
Level, Tone, and Drive controls plus the Turbo mode switch. The mode switch can be controlled by an external footswitch for hands-free switching during a song. At 10mA, it's extremely power-efficient.
Produced from 1985 to 1994, the OD-2 sits in Boss's overdrive lineup between the vintage OD-1 and the modern BD-2. A solid 80s overdrive that doesn't get much attention but sounds good.
