ODB-3 Bass Overdrive
Bass overdrive with blend control mixing clean and driven signals. Preserves low-end punch.
The ODB-3 Bass Overdrive has been the default affordable bass overdrive since 1995, providing a simple way to add grit to bass guitar without losing low-end definition. The Blend control mixes clean and overdriven signals in parallel.
The parallel blend is the critical feature for bass overdrive. Turn up the Drive for aggressive distortion, then dial back the Blend to keep your clean low end intact underneath. This approach became the standard for bass drive pedals, and the ODB-3 was one of the first to popularize it in a compact format.
Level, EQ (two-band), Drive, and Blend controls. The EQ section provides bass and treble adjustment for the driven signal only, letting you shape the overdrive character without affecting your clean blend. At 13mA, it's extremely power-efficient.
In production for nearly 30 years, the ODB-3 is ubiquitous in bass rigs. It's not exotic, but the parallel blend approach is fundamentally correct for bass overdrive, and at its price point, it's hard to argue with three decades of proven performance.
