The PS-5 Super Shifter provides pitch shifting with multiple modes including harmonizer, detune, and tremolo arm effects. Released in 2000 as Boss's most versatile compact pitch shifter.
Multiple modes: Pitch Shift (fixed interval), Harmony (intelligent harmony following a key), Detune (slight pitch offset for chorus-like thickening), T.Arm (tremolo bar simulation), and Flutter (rapid pitch modulation). The T.Arm mode simulates whammy bar dive bombs and vibrato without a tremolo bridge.
Shift, Fine, Balance, and Mode controls. The Shift knob sets the interval (up to an octave up or down), Fine provides cents-level detuning, and Balance mixes wet and dry signals. Expression pedal input enables real-time pitch control like a whammy pedal.
The PS-5 covers practical pitch shifting (harmonies, detuning) and creative effects (T.Arm, Flutter) in one compact pedal. The expression pedal functionality is particularly useful for whammy-style pitch sweeps.
