SY-300 Guitar Synthesizer
Guitar synthesizer with polyphonic tracking via standard 1/4-inch input. No GK pickup needed.
The SY-300 Guitar Synthesizer is Boss's first guitar synth that requires no special pickup, tracking polyphonic guitar directly from standard pickups in real time. Released in 2015, it predated the SY-1 and proved the concept was viable.
Three simultaneous synth engines with independent sound design. Each engine offers oscillator types, filters, envelopes, and LFO modulation. The polyphonic tracking engine processes standard guitar signals without the latency associated with MIDI conversion. Built-in effects (filter, delay, reverb, chorus) process the synth output.
Comprehensive panel of knobs and switches for real-time sound design. Color display for patch editing. MIDI in/out, USB, expression pedal inputs, stereo I/O. At 400mA, substantial power is required. 99 user patches.
The SY-300 was a breakthrough: guitar synthesizer that sounded good and tracked reliably from a regular guitar cable. It proved the market for pickup-free guitar synth, leading to the more accessible SY-1 and SY-200.
