TW-1 T Wah
Touch wah with envelope-controlled filter. Auto-wah that sweeps based on pick attack dynamics.
The TW-1 T Wah was one of Boss's early compact effects, released in 1978 as an auto-wah that responds to picking dynamics. The 'T' stands for 'Touch,' as the filter sweep is controlled by your pick attack intensity.
The envelope follower tracks your picking dynamics and sweeps a bandpass filter accordingly. Play hard and the filter opens up for a bright, quacking wah effect. Play softly and the filter stays closed for a darker tone. The response is fast enough to track individual pick strokes.
Sens (sensitivity), Peak, and Mode controls. At 5mA it draws almost nothing. Produced from 1978 to 1988. The Sensitivity control determines how much pick attack is needed to open the filter; Peak adjusts the resonance intensity of the filter sweep.
An early envelope follower in compact pedal format. The TW-1 predates most auto-wah pedals on the market and established the basic envelope-filter formula that countless pedals have followed since.
