VB-2 Vibrato
Pure pitch vibrato without tremolo - discontinued, rare, and fetching collector prices.
The VB-2 Vibrato is a true pitch vibrato: it modulates pitch directly rather than blending a modulated signal with dry (which is chorus). Produced from 1982 to 1986, it was a poor seller that became a cult classic decades later.
The VB-2 removes the dry signal entirely and applies only pitch modulation. This creates a warbling, wobbling quality that's fundamentally different from chorus. At subtle settings it adds gentle pitch drift; cranked up, it produces seasick, warped-record effects that became popular in shoegaze and experimental music.
Rate, Depth, and Rise Time controls. Rise Time controls how quickly the vibrato reaches full depth after engaging. At 14mA it's power-efficient. A Latch mode enables hands-free engagement.
The VB-2 was commercially unsuccessful during its short production run, but rising interest in experimental and ambient guitar pushed prices past $300 on the used market. Reissued as the VB-2W Waza Craft with extended features.
