Karma Suture (Ge)
Germanium Harmonic Percolator with mixed Ge/Si diode clipping for warm, saggy fuzz textures.
The Catalinbread Karma Suture Ge is based on the Interfax Harmonic Percolator, a rare early-1970s two-transistor circuit that blends even and odd harmonics in a way no other fuzz topology achieves. This germanium version pairs a germanium PNP transistor with a silicon NPN, plus mixed germanium and silicon diodes for warm asymmetrical clipping.
Four controls shape the harmonic content: Input controls how much signal hits the harmonic generator (low settings produce a lively boost with strong even-order harmonics, high settings push into full fuzz), Density blends the input capacitor from thick fuzz to tight overdrive, Diodes blend in the clipping diodes from full compression to wide-open loudness, and Output sets volume.
The germanium transistor gives this version a thicker, sweeter character with softer attack and saggier response compared to the silicon Karma Suture. It sits in Hendrix territory where the silicon version leans toward Kevin Shields.
