Super Chil Picoso
MOSFET clean boost with tilt EQ and Spicy/Mild switch—up to +35dB from a tiny enclosure.
The Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso is a MOSFET clean boost based on Jack Orman's classic boost design. The Tilt EQ simultaneously adjusts bass and treble in opposite directions—tilt one way for brighter, the other for darker. The Spicy/Mild toggle switch stacks a second MOSFET gain stage in series, roughly doubling the available boost for up to +35dB of clean level increase.
Input impedance sits at 10 megohms (extremely high, preserving pickup resonance) with a 3k output impedance, making it an effective impedance buffer even before considering the boost. In Mild mode it works as a transparent level boost or buffer; flip to Spicy and it pushes amps into natural breakup without adding its own clipping.
Fits on the tightest pedalboards thanks to its mini enclosure. Ideal as an always-on tone enhancer, solo boost, or front-end gain stage to push a tube amp harder.
