SuperCharged
MOSFET overdrive with Tilt EQ and Contour control—runs on 9–18V for extra headroom.
The Catalinbread Supercharged is a MOSFET-based overdrive that uses a Tilt EQ to simultaneously adjust bass and treble response in opposite directions. The Contour control adds a separate midrange shaping stage, and the Gain knob sets the amount of MOSFET clipping from mild grit to full saturation.
Running at 9V provides standard headroom, but the circuit accepts up to 18V for increased clean headroom and a tighter, more dynamic feel. At 10mA current draw it's efficient for a drive pedal. The MOSFET clipping produces a smooth, amp-like breakup character that responds well to pick dynamics and guitar volume adjustments.
Works equally well as a standalone drive or stacked into another pedal or amp already on the edge of breakup. The Tilt EQ makes it adaptable across different amp voicings without needing separate bass and treble controls.
