DigiTech, founded in 1984 in Utah, pioneered digital effects processing and became synonymous with pitch-shifting through the Whammy series introduced in 1989.
The Whammy 5 continues the legacy with true bypass, MIDI input for external control, and switchable Classic/Chords algorithms. Classic mode excels at single-note lines while Chords mode tracks full polyphonic content.
The expression pedal sweeps through pitch shifts up to two octaves in either direction. Detune, harmony, and dive-bomb effects are all accessible. 24-bit conversion and 44.1kHz sampling deliver studio-quality processing.
