Dyna-Ranger
5-range Rangemaster treble booster with Mullard OC44 for Clapton to Iommi tones.
The Dyna-Ranger is a 5-range version of the Dallas Rangemaster treble booster used by Clapton, Gilmour, Iommi, and Brian May. It uses an original glass Mullard OC44 germanium transistor with socketed mounting for experimenting with other vintage transistors.
Five selectable frequency ranges cover traditional treble boost (position 1) through 'woman tone' mids to thick Sabbath-style lows (position 5). The continuous boost control adjusts output level.
Produces violin-like sustain and natural amp overdrive rather than harsh treble. Onboard power conversion allows standard 9V supplies instead of batteries. Hand-built by Fred Taccone, whose amps are used by John Mayer and Billy Gibbons.
